‘Le Soleil et la Vigne' is a spectacular printed wall tapestry by renowned French artist Jean Picart Le Doux. This is a fabric print reproduction of the image created by Le Doux in Paris France, at the textile factory Henri Dupre & Cie a Hem in the 1950s. This wonderful heavy woven canvas print features nature imagery, such as birds and grapes, circling the sun, or central eye form, which evokes the themes of birth, life and mother nature.
Size: 157 x 196cm (6 ft. 4 in x 4 ft. 10 inches).

The print is in excellent condition with its deep burgundy background, vibrating yellows and reds.
It features the artists name of Jean Picart Le Doux on the bottom right and the shield makers mark on the bottom left.
On the back it has been signed by Jean Picart Le Doux.

Jean Picart Le Doux (1902-1982) was a french painter. With no formal training, He made his debut in bookbinding and publishing, and then he turned to advertising and graphic arts. From the 1940s he started producing tapestries, for which he won numerous awards, With Jean Lurcat and Marc Saint-Saens, he is credited with reviving the contemporary tapestry. His work is distinctive for his use of colour, poetic stylised themes, and strong compositions. He worked closely with Aubusson, who produced over four hundred original tapestries.
